BUSINESS/TECHNOLOGY ALIGNMENT & RISK SERVICE

The purpose of our Business/Technology Alignment service is to maximize the alignment of investments, technology and organizational expenses (the "means") with your firm's goals, objectives & strategies (the "ends"), for both the short term (e.g., one year) and the longer term (e.g., five years),  thereby resulting in 1) better prioritization, profits, efficiency and agility,  2) reduction of costs and wasted sub-optimal off-target redundant inconsistent conflicting unnecessary efforts, and  3) identification and mitigation of risks associated with these ends and means.

This service analyzes the "means" (the existing business, technology and organizational components,  plus the proposed ideas, investments and projects),  and then maps them back to the "ends" (the firm's short and long-term goals, objectives & strategies), at any desired level of detail or simplification. It then documents and analyzes the risks associated with these ends and means, and the risk mitigation plans/gaps.

It does this in a quantitative, computerized but streamlined way, and with full transparency and traceability. Many scenarios and variations can be quickly tried and each will yield a re-calculated ranked list of the "means" (typically this yields ranked lists of investment ideas, projects, organizations, services, applications, technologies, etc), with their risks.

It gives executives one central place to overview and analyze every major piece of the firm, to explore its values, to focus on its risks, and to test strategies for improvements. And optionally to drill into details of any of these pieces. Or to easily re-tune and fine-tune the tool until the executives feel that it represents their understanding of their firm.

This analysis can be used to facilitate the choice of annual investments and projects for the planning cycle, to evaluate and re-organize organizational units, to evaluate investments in applications and technologies, etc., especially since each individual item in these ranked portfolios will have its own (multi-year) estimated value calculated, including goal alignment, benefits, costs, and risks,  plus other key indicators such as head-count, outsourcing, regulatory flags, etc.

For the first two months of this work, a demonstration pilot will be built and analyzed, covering a small part of the firm. Our service will be adapted to the particulars of your firm, and the pilot will be adjusted until there is understanding and agreement on the methodology and deliverables. A wide range of deliverables can be provided, and your firm may want to try only a subset of them for a first phase of the work.
